Combining music, design and attitude, Mobi Headphonies are playful, portable 3” characters with built-in amplified speakers. Available in seven different, quirky characters, Headphonies work with any portable gaming device, MP3 players, most mobile devices, portable DVD players and computers. The little critters are turning lots of heads lately, and just earned the CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Honoree Award in the Electronic Gaming Hardware category. They earned an Innovations Award during the 2010 International CES this month in Las Vegas, and are available now for about $25 at Headphonies.com. Starting this week, too, for every Headphonie purchased on the site, a $1 donation will be made to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

One of my favorite products from CES were collectible speakers from Mobi Technologies called “Headphonies.” These cute little guys plug into your favorite MP3 player, phone, etc., and provide some great sound, all while making you look incredibly cool. I’ll be reviewing them in detail shortly, but I wanted to share details about a special fundraiser they are hosting.
From January 18th through February 28, Mobi Technologies will donate $1 for each Headphonies sold to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to help relief efforts in Haiti. The speakers are available at headphonies.com for $24.95.

We have all seen the images and news coverage of Haiti. It is devastating. No words can do justice to what the people of Haiti are going through. The loss. Unimaginable. The Haitian people desperately need our help. I know many of us are having our own financial troubles, but just remember that any little bit helps. It doesn’t even have to be money. Donate your time, services, or help get the word out. Donate supplies or clothing. Buy from companies who are donating a portion of their proceeds to the Haitian people. There are so many things that we can do. Just do something.
Here’s a list of organizations and companies who are helping in some way. Visit their sites and see how you can get involved.
Mobi Technologies began their “Headphonies for Haiti” fundraiser today. For every Headphonies sold on www.headphonies .com from January 18th to February 28th, $1 will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. Josie Maran will be donating 50% of proceeds from sales made on www.josiemarancosmetics.com from now to the end of January to the American Red Cross.
Nickelodeon launched a site (http://www.nick.com/helphaiti/) that features tips on what kids can do to get involved; message boards for kids to connect, discuss and share their thoughts; as well as a list of organizations (Yele Haiti, UNICEF, Save the Children, Mercy Corps, Doctors without Borders, American Red Cross, and Kids Care) that kids can encourage their parents to reach out to for more information on ways they can help.
baby star will donate 10% of january sales to www.mercycorps.org.
A. Tierney is donating 20% of all January purchases to AmeriCares.
Doctors without Borders has already treated 1,000 people on the ground in Haiti, but an estimated 3 million have been affected by this quake, so there remains tremendous work to be done. They have a page to donate and great suggestions on sharing the cause through badges for your blog or website.
UNICEF pledges that 100% of donations will be used to save children’s lives in Haiti. UNICEF’s disaster relief response, coordinated with other UN agencies and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent, will focus on helping children and women, usually the most vulnerable in times of crisis. Children under 18 make up nearly 50 percent of the 10 million population of Haiti.
The Mercy Corps always distinguish themselves as one of the first responders when an earthquake hits. They helped out in Peru in 2007, China in 2008, Indonesia in 2009, and now they land as one of the first on the ground in Haiti. Their extensive experience can only be made more valuable by donations and funding. Their website has a place to donate and also asks users to set up their own fundraising page and encourage other to help out as well.
Donate from your Mobile Phone(any carrier, any rate plan) — it’s very easy:
Text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross. (U.S. State Department) or
Text “YELE” to 501501 to donate $5 to Yele Haiti. (foundation started by Wyclef Jean)
This aid goes immediately to the first responders on the ground in Haiti and will be sorely needed.
Oxfam America has nearly 40 years of experience in disaster response. Your donation will go immediately to the most critical needs in Haiti, and they will ensure that every penny is used wisely. Oxfam has a staff of approximately 200 people on the ground in Haiti, including a group of highly-experienced emergency specialists. This emergency team supports rescue efforts, assessing the damage and responding with public health, water and sanitation services to prevent the spread of waterborne disease. Additional emergency specialists have been dispatched from USA, UK, and Mexico today and the charity is preparing to send additional stocks.
Please visit the American Red Cross for more ways to help and donate.
I’m also providing a linky below for you guys to link to posts that also give ideas on how to help the Haitian people. If you’re a company donating proceeds, then please link up too. The only thing I ask is that the links be solely for helping Haiti. It goes without saying, but NO SPAMMING. All irrelevant links will be removed.
2. Five Ways to Help Haiti 3. Hamilton Family -Help for Haiti

As you all may know, the social media world has been on the ball raising money to help the earthquake victims of Haiti. As of Thursday night (January 14th) the Red Cross said it collected nearly $35 million dollars via it’s “Text HAITI to donate $10″ campaign – see @RedCross. Red Cross expects donations made through “normal” channels such as writing a check or on the web, will still outweigh the text messaging campaign but the Twitter campaign might be reaching people who otherwise might not have donated. Interesting, eh?
Mobi Technologies makes headphones. Cute and funny headphones. I saw them at CES and thought they were clever and perfect for teens. In fact, they won the CEA Innovations Award at the show. Today, I learned about their “Heaphonies for Haiti” campaign. They’re getting into action in a meaningful way and I think it’s great. So I would like to tell you about it.
For every Headphonies sold on www.headphonies .com from January 18th to February 28, $1 will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. To find out other ways to donate or volunteer please visit RedCross.org and WhiteHouse.gov.
We’re doing what we can, but it’s great to see other companies get into the mix. Mobi Technoligies featured Headphonies at CES and won the Innovations award. They are starting their “Headphonies for Haiti” on Monday. For every Headphonies sold on www.headphonies.com from January 18 – February 28, $1 will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
The designs are adorable and look to be around $24.95. The product is a vinyl toy looking speaker. I like Stargirl but there are many different designs and even a blank one that you can create your own design.

Headphonies are an accessory I would view more as a novelty item instead of a practical one. Nonetheless, it’s a nice product which I caught a glimpse of at CES this year. They have stepped up to the plate to help out those effected by the earthquake in Haiti and are going to donate $1 from every Headphonies sold between January 18th and February 28th. If you have been looking for something like this and want to feel good about helping out in Haiti at the same time pick one or two of them up. Full press release after the break.
Mobi Technologies, Inc. (www.headphonies.com) announced today that they will begin their “Headphonies for Haiti” fundraiser Monday. For every Headphonies sold on www.headphonies .com from January 18th to February 28th, $1 will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
On January 12th, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck southern Haiti and as of Friday the death tolls were reaching 50,000 people and has left hundreds of thousands injured and homeless. With the numbers increasing and the situation in Haiti only getting worse, the team at Mobi Technoligies wanted to do their part.
“Distruction of this magnitude deserves the attention of all corporations big and small.” says EVP, Bill Bast “We want to do what we can to help the situation in Haiti and we hope our efforts will encourage other corporations to do the same.”
MOBI, Inc. is a leading producer of innovative concepts for modern living. The company’s vision, energy, ideas and talents have been built upon the interests and needs of today’s lifestyles. Their Headphonies design recently won the CEA Innovations award at the Consumer Electronics Show early this month. These artistically designed portable 3” characters have a built in amplified speaker. It’s surprisingly loud and clear sound is what blows its fans away.
Those who wish to participate in HEADPHONIES FOR HAITI, please visit www.headphonies.com and purchase any Headphonies of your choice and $1 will be donated to the American Red Cross Relief Fund. To find out other ways to donate or help out please visit www.redcross.org or www.whitehouse.gov.
